Origins

The name Timberline originated with my Dad and his freight hauling business in northern B.C. in the late 50’s and early 60’s. He hauled freight from Vancouver to Prince Rupert, on the old Fraser Canyon Road and the Bulkley River Canyon and would tell us all the harrowing details of his trips. We heard about all the near misses, the built out single lane sections on the old Fraser Canyon road, where you had to walk ahead of your vehicle to check around the corner for oncoming traffic, and the anguish of loosing a friend to the treacherous Bulkley Canyon. After I had become a red seal carpenter, and decided it was time to venture out on my own, I chose Timberline Construction for my business name, as an homage to my late father and all the hard work he put in to raise a family of 10. The name of this website, Beyond the Timberline signifies my transition from the construction industry to teaching in the adult education field. My mother was also a teacher and adult education instructor with Cariboo College, so this is somewhat of a tribute to both my late parents, thanks for everything you’ve done. You have both inspired me beyond words!
